WHAT IS Meares Irlen SCREENING?
Meares Irlen - Visual Dyslexia Screening
If you or your child experience words appearing to move, wobble or flicker on the page, or experience the page itself appearing as too bright or the words are too close together, this specialist eye screening may help. The same problem is also known as Meares Irlen, Visual Stress or Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome
Our visual dyslexia screening can improve comfort and performance in visual tasks.
how does dyslexia eye screening work?
Our expert optometrists carry out a range of assessments to identify the visual disorder. They are then able to provide personalised solutions and recommendations, including tinted lenses or filters, to alleviate symptoms like eye strain, headaches, and difficulties with reading.
The test takes around 20-30 minutes and the practitioner is able to produce a report on whether or not you have the condition and also if using a specific coloured overlay or specific Meres Irlen tint in a pair of glasses will help.
Using specialist equipment we can assess which coloured overlay or dyslexia tinted lenses will improve the rate of reading and reduce the signs and symptoms of visual dyslexia.
ONGOING SUPPORT FOR VISUAL DYSLEXIA
Once diagnosed, our patients will be monitored as part of a regular eye examination. Overlay colours may need to be changed over time and regular assessments of this will ensure the supporting tools are providing the best results for our patients.
